Regarding the possible project I’ve been hinting at…I promised an update, didn’t I?
I need to begin with an apology that I won’t be able to give you a fuller update. I really thought I would have more to share today, but instead, I mainly have a lot of questions that won’t be answered right off. At the very least, I can say I’ve been given a yellow light of sorts. It’s definitely not green, but I don’t think it’s red either, from what I can read (my vision is a bit hazy this morning – perhaps I need more coffee!).
Short answer: My proposal has been sent back to me with a request for more. So, we’re on hold…
Well, you’re on hold. I’m clearly not on hold and have some work ahead of me. I’m just not exactly sure what that means right off. Today will be a day of processing and prayer and further conversations with the editor with whom I’ve been working. I wasn’t convincing enough to merit a meeting with acquisitions, so we’ll see what can happen from here and whether I have it in me to produce the book that is being envisioned by others.
In the meantime, I’m very pleased to be able to share something with a bit more certainty this morning. My friend Clara at Authentic Woman blog is featuring my ruminations today. A bright spot in my morning has been remembering this and being able to share it with you.
Thanks again for being there…
And if you’re disappointed, be assured, I wasn’t kidding about the God’s-will thing yesterday. It’s all in His hands and I continue to trust.
Q4U: What are your thoughts about yellow lights?
Laura Marcella says
I think a yellow light is full of hope and cheer! It says there’s more to evaluate, something else to wait for, and that can be a very good thing. π
Good luck with everything, Roxane!
Roxane B. Salonen says
Laura, what a great perspective. Thanks for checking back today! I wish you well in your writing today, and again, appreciate the sunny thoughts.
Shannon O'Donnell says
Squeezing lemons brings lemonade, and lemonade brings only good things. It’s coming, Roxane! I know you can do this. *continues prayers* π
Jane Heitman Healy says
Hi, Roxane, to answer your question, my approach to yellow lights is the same as yours–prayer, processing, and paying attention. Your phrase “whether I have it in me to produce the book that is being envisioned by others” struck me. As writers that is exactly what we must do, but that is a little like being a surrogate mother, isn’t it? We both know editors well enough to understand how they help us make the best product possible, so–best wishes, blessings, and lots of hope!
Roxane B. Salonen says
Shannon, what a sweet (if not a bit sour ha) response! Love it! Thanks so much friend. I hope we can have a glass of lemonade together someday!
And Jane, nice response! I do realize this is all part of the journey and the writing journey in particular. I appreciate your positivity and good thoughts. π
Marie says
Well, when life gives you lemons, grab the tequila and make a margarita (or lemonade if you prefer)! Sending hugs and prayers that you will have the time and energy to do the work required.
God Bless,
Marie
Roxane B. Salonen says
Marie, you are funny! Thanks for the hugs!
Kim says
Roxane,
Your situation reminds me of my blog post at the beginning of the year. There are times in life that are “no seasons”, “slow seasons” and “go seasons.” All’s I can say is that I hope you have some really sexy undies, because when God gives you the “go”, you will be moving so fast your pants will probable fly off! Prayers and hugs your way!

So many great comments — especially Marie’s suggestion! π
Love your perspective, Roxane. I know this period is making you wiser. Can’t wait to see where it takes you…I know the light will soon turn green.
Mary Aalgaard says
Not only is the signal yellow, you don’t seem to have a GPS inside the vehicle. Hmmm. It’s not that we have to be mind readers, we just need to have really good instincts and intuition to know what is really expected of us. Prayers for a good map, green lights, and a smooth ride!
Rosslyn Elliott says
If there’s anything the writing journey teaches us, it’s that yellow is better than red. π
Glad to hear that at least hope is still alive! And you have a great attitude, as usual, Roxane. I’ll be waiting along with you for good news!
Karen E. says
Here’s to a green light soon, if it’s His will! You’ve got the right perspective, Roxane … all things in His time. π
