Kid quotes:
“Hey, look! The birds are making a number!” — Child #5, age 3, upon seeing the V-formation of Canadian geese in the late afternoon, Minnesota sky.
Here’s another. About a week ago I noticed that in a closet downstairs, the cord that typically hangs from the closet’s ceiling for pulling on the light had gone missing (making for a rather dark closet). A few days later, I found the cord upstairs on the kitchen floor (a clue, but the mystery remained). A few days after that, the story of the misplaced cord came to “light”:
“Mom,” said Child #4, age 6, upon opening the closet, “I know how that string got broke off.”
“Really? How?” I asked.
He began eagerly spilling the beans on his little brother, then quickly added, “But, Mom, he just wanted to play Indiana Jones!”
And where was I when the children were hanging from the light cord swinging from one end of the closet to the other? Wish I’d been there to witness it! Who knew the adventures that awaited on the other side of that closet door?
Up, up and away!!! (Snap! Thud…)
