Today, while getting ready to leave for a gathering with my youngest son, age three, I said, “Alright, bud, are you ready? We’re going to leave in a couple minutes.” After a brief pause, and in a most contemplative manner, he looked up at me and said, “Is this the couple minutes that lasts a long time?” Out of the mouths of babes! I love it. He’s got me figured out pretty well. Those couple minutes…can go on and on and on and… Poor kid. Needless to say, we made it to our destination with time to spare. In other words, it ended up being “the other kind of couple minutes,” the real deal this time, thanks to my child’s revealing utterance.
