In addition to my publications portfolio, early this year (2010) I began work as a radio host for Real Presence Radio, KVXR, 1280 Moorhead-Fargo and 1370 Grand Forks. For this work, I've returned to my broadcast journalism roots and truly enjoy lining up and conducting monthly on-line radio interviews as well as taking part in a live radio talk show several times a month.
I've also worked as a communications coordinator for Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church (2003-2005), during which time I created and edited correspondence pieces for the parish and helped fine-tune homilies and addressed a variety of other communications needs. My work including producing a parish newsletter on a quarterly basis.
Prior to my time there, I worked as a communications assistant for Minnesota Relay for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (1997-2000 and 2002-2003).
Throughout my career, I've stayed near my profession as an active member of the National Federation of Press Women, the North Dakota Professional Communicators and the Fargo-Moorhead Professional Communicators (since 1991), as well as the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (since 1997).
In the summers of 2008 and 2009, I served as a Studium Program writing scholar at St. Benedict's Monastery in St. Joseph, MN, and in 2002, was honored with a scholarship to attend the Highlights Foundation conference on children's literature in Chautauqua, NY.
